Moral and Ethical Standards

At Satisfaction.Photos trust and authenticity are central to the way we capture and use media. Across all assignments, we are committed to using photos and video responsibly, respectfully, and in a way that accurately reflects the people and organisations we work with.

Authentic Representation

We do not use images or footage in a way that misrepresents people, organisations, or situations. Content we capture will not be edited or reused in a way that portrays something that did not occur or changes the intended meaning of the moment.

Respect for People and Context

We recognise that our work often involves real people and genuine interactions. We take care to:

  • Avoid using content in a misleading or disingenuous way

  • Avoid sharing personal or sensitive information obtained during an assignment

  • Use sound judgement when reusing content captured in specific contexts

Responsible Reuse of Media

We may reuse photos or video from previous assignments for promotional purposes such as:

  • Portfolio examples

  • Website content

  • Social media

  • Advertising material

When doing so, we aim to use content that fairly represents the type of work we provide. This may include recognisable individuals, however we avoid reusing material that contains sensitive information, personal stories, or context-specific content that was intended for a particular purpose.

Editorial vs Creative Work

This ethical approach primarily applies to documentary-style and assignment-based work involving real people and real situations. In creative work such as weddings, portraits, and commercial productions, stylistic editing and artistic enhancements may be used as part of the creative process.

Our Approach

Our approach aligns with widely accepted journalistic and documentary media ethics, including principles of authenticity, fairness, and respect. Where relevant, we also consider the intent of the Australian Privacy Principles and professional photography ethical standards such as those promoted by the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP).

We understand that we often work in small communities where trust matters. This approach reflects our commitment to maintaining respectful, long-term relationships with the people and organisations we work with.
